Oscar Oiwa
inaugura sua primeira exposição na Galeria Nara Roesler. A mostra Clima tempestuoso
conta com 12 pinturas criadas nos últimos três anos, todas inéditas no
país.
As obras retratam desastres, violentos episódios climáticos, equívocos
políticos e estados de calamidade com o traço fantasioso de Oscar Oiwa.
É possível reconhecer em algumas telas a influência de grandes mestres
do ukiyo-e,
estilo de pintura desenvolvido no Japão entre os séculos XVII e XIX.
Esta homenagem aos mestres japoneses, porém, é aliada a questões
absolutamente globais e contemporâneas.
No texto crítico sobre a mostra, Marilyn Zeitlin comenta: "Oiwa não
desvia o olhar do mundo ao seu redor; ele nos faz ter sentimentos
diferentes e pensar de maneira distinta sobre esse mundo. Ele usa sua
consciência da imensidão do mundo, sua sagacidade, sua imaginação, sua
tremenda habilidade artística para transformar o terrível em algo sobre
o qual conseguimos refletir." Até 15 de junho.

On May 14, at 7PM, Oscar Oiwa opens his first exhibition
at Galeria
Nara Roesler.
Clima
tempestuoso
[Stormy weather] gathers 12 paintings created in the past three years,
all being shown in Brazil for the first time.
The works depict
disasters, violent weather events, political misconceptions and states
of emergency with Oscar
Oiwa's
traits of fantasy. One may recognize in some of his canvases the
influence of great masters of ukiyo-e, painting style developed
in Japan between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. This homage
to the Japanese masters, however, is coupled with absolutely global and
contemporary issues.
In the essay on
the exhibition, Marilyn Zeitlin says: "Oiwa cannot turn his eyes away
from the world around him. He makes us able to feel and think in new
ways about that world. He uses his awareness of a large world, his wit,
his imagination, and his tremendous skills as an artist to transform
the terrible into something we are capable of pondering." Until June 15.
